Choose your Adventure

Our guided walks operate throughout Tomaree National Park. Choose your section of the Tomaree Coastal Walk or explore our special off track areas.

1hr | Stephens Peak | Challenging

Escape the crowds but keep the view! The stunning alternative to Tomaree Mountain. Meet your friendly and knowledgeable guide who will provide tell you about the local flora and fauna as well as geological and cultural history. The trail to Stephens Peak follows a National Park fire trail before a short, steep & uneven climb (at your own pace) on single-track to the summit where you will be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of Port Stephens.

2hrs | Sand Dunes & Wetlands | Moderate

A journey through the sand and forest. We will begin our walk in the forest following a service trail out to the Samurai sand dunes. Once at the dunes we will follow the forest edge until we reach the breath-taking wetland views. From here we will make our way through the dunes (walking, sliding - whatever gives you the most joy!) to Samurai Beach for a rest and snack. We will then head back through the dunes and the forest to finish our walk.

3hrs | Boulder Bay | Moderate

Starting from the Southern end of Fingal Beach past Barry Park, you will meet your guide and begin your walk following the sandy single-track through to a rocky viewpoint for our refreshment break. This walk is a very scenic and remote section of the Tomaree National Park coastline with views of Point Stephens and Fingal Spit as well as opportunities for whale watching (in season).

3hrs | Hidden Paradise | Demanding

Paradise Beach is a well-kept secret located between Tomaree headland and Fingal Bay.  We will depart along the Tomaree Coastal Track fire-trail before a short, steep & uneven single-track climb (side-track) to the summit of Stephens Peak where you will be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of Port Stephens. From here we will return to the Coastal track and continue along to the beach and across the rocks to Paradise Beach. Access to Paradise Beach requires an adventurous (but achievable!) rock scramble along the stunning Port Stephens coastal cliff line. NOTE: This trip is tide dependent and therefore may not be possible some days.

4hrs | Follow the Mountains | Challenging

Join your guide for a traverse along the Tomaree coastline. We will depart along the Tomaree Coastal Track fire-trail before a short, steep, single-track climb (side-track) to the summit of Stephens Peak where you will be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of Port Stephens. After this we will continue along the NP fire trail through coastal dunes and forest to Fingal Spit around the headland to Box Beach and back onto the Tomaree Coastal Track. Dependent on the tide, time and participant ability we may have to retrace our steps back to Zenith Beach car park or we can take the rocky coastline back via Wreck and Paradise beaches. Route WILL vary and be dependent on tides and swell.

5hrs | Big Rocky (return version) | Moderate

Need to Know

Need to Know

Private tours will continue with added precautions, as further information comes to hand we will review our status.

For our tours to continue we need to work together in partnership, I understand that our community will be in need of support and connection over the coming weeks, however as always, the safety of our staff, our families and our Tomaree Coastal Adventures community will remain our first priority.

In an effort to ensure the safety of our Tomaree Coastal Adventures community and our staff, we will be implementing the following strategies:

  • We will be encouraging; good hygiene practices such as covering your coughs and sneezes with your elbow, washing your hands often with soap and water, using alcohol-based hand sanitisers.
  • If you or any member of your family/friends (that you live with or who you have had recent close contact with) has any sign of illness we ask that you DO NOT  attend the tour. In this situation please call our office to organise cancellation or postponement. As this request is being put in place to protect the health of all our families, anyone who ignores this request will be required to leave immediately and any payment made will be forfeited.
  • Soap and water will be provided so participants can clean their hands on arrival and departure. Alcohol based hand sanitizer will be available for use after toileting, and before & after eating.
  • Please make sure to bring your own snacks and water, and please do not share these with anyone else. During the pandemic Tomaree Coastal Adventures will not be providing any catering.
  • We will be aiming to keep distance between participants and staff. If first aid is required PPE will be worn.
  • Due to the high ‘touch based’ nature of close group type activities, we will no longer be doing group craft or projects

Thank you all for your understanding, cooperation & support in this difficult time ❤️

Our tour hours are from 9am – 5pm.

Minimum Numbers
We require a minimum of 2 guests on private tours for the safety of our guests and staff.

Maximum Numbers
The base cost includes up to 4 guests. Additional guests will incur a surcharge. No more than 8 guests per private booking.

Minimum Age
Minimum age varies between tours dependent on duration, difficulty and length. They have been put in place for children’s safety and to ensure other guests enjoy their experience. If you think your child is able to complete a walk but does not meet our minimum age requirements please get in touch – we are flexible with this.

  • Comfortable backpack to carry your gear (including lunch on full day tours)

  • Enough food for the duration of the tour – during the COVID-19 Pandemic we will NOT be providing any catering.

We use an online waiver system for all participants, please ensure you complete this prior to arrival. This is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce physical interaction between staff and participants.

Online waiver forms can be found here:

Rubbish
All rubbish you bring in, you will need to take home with you.

Weather
We love ALL weather – so dress accordingly! Walks will only be cancelled in the case of relevant weather warnings, extreme heat events and unsafe fire conditions.

Toilets
Toilets are limited within the National Park. We advise you visit the nearest public toilet BEFORE arriving at the meeting point (detailed on walk description notes). You will need to utilise outdoor toileting practices whist on tour – which we will cover in our briefing.

Please review our terms and conditions. This covers our Booking Conditions (payments, cancellations, photos release, minors, minimum numbers, special requirements, removal from tours) and Risk Warning & Liability Waiver.
